Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i on Thursday held a high-level consultative meeting with leaders allied to the United Alternative Government, focusing on key national concerns affecting citizens.

The meeting brought together prominent figures including Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Eugene Wamalwa.

According to Matiang’i, the leaders discussed a range of pressing issues, with particular emphasis on delays in government capitation to schools as learners prepare to resume classes.

Education funding emerged as a major concern, with the leaders warning that delays in capitation could disrupt learning and place additional strain on parents and school administrations.

They called for urgent intervention to ensure that institutions receive the necessary resources in time for a smooth reopening.

The leaders also expressed concern over rising cases of insecurity reported in different parts of the country.

They stressed the need for coordinated efforts to strengthen security systems and restore public confidence, noting that safety remains a critical pillar for national stability and economic growth.

In addition, the meeting underscored the importance of national unity at a time when the country is facing multiple challenges.

The leaders emphasized the need for inclusive dialogue and cooperation across political divides to foster cohesion and prevent further tensions.

The former CS Fred Matiang’i noted that the group remains committed to working together in addressing these issues and ensuring that effective solutions are found.

He added that restoring trust in public institutions will be key in navigating the current challenges facing the country.
